Counseling
Just as inmates request counseling from the chaplain’s office, so also do members of the inmates’ families. Mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters call the office asking for guidance and prayer in dealing with their loved one’s incarceration, drug addiction, or other problem. Some family members seek help with a problem of their own. Others call to ask the chaplain to inform an inmate that a family member has died or is seriously ill. These occasions provide an opportunity for the chaplain to minister to the inmate and to the family.
